A toran is a handmade decorative door hanging, mostly used in Hinduism, to please and attract Lakshmi (Goddess of wealth) and to keep negative energy and evil spirits out.
A toran is traditionally used above a door, but due to its highly decorative character, torans can be used above a window or even on the wall.
This toran is made in the Indian province of Gujrat, which is famous for the beautiful embroidery. Each toran is a unique piece of embroidery and patchwork of vintage and antique textiles.
