A chitral coat or choogha coat is a traditional Afghan coat. It can be worn by both men or women (unisex). It is mostly used inside the house or for a quick task outdoors.
A chitral coat has traditionally no buttons for closing; it is mostly worn hanging open or closed with the waistband. The coat has 2 pockets, similar to a European dressing gown and it has partial lining.
This chitral coat is made from tightly woven unkempt (uncombed) pure wool. Unkempt wool feels more rough to the touch, but it keep more warmth in between the fibers. This kind of chitral coat is the most used in and around Afghanistan.
