Handwoven with thick raw unkempt wool, these are the traditional patu shawls from the Afghan high mountains, the Swat Valley and surrounding areas.
Patu shawls are also known as patoo's and can be used as shawl, shoulder wrap, body wrap or as blanket.
Raw unkempt wool feels rougher and a little itchy and leaves some wool fluffs, but it retains more heat between the wool fibres.
As the patoo's are traditionally handwoven, minimal differences in color, size and pattern may occur. Impurities in the wool are possible.
Please see the video about the weaving!
Each patoo is an artisanal product and therefore tiny imperfections might be possible.
Each patoo is a unique item and a work of art!
It is a common use in Afghanistan and Pakistan to add naphthalene balls to textiles to keep the fabrics bug free. This odour will disappear after a good airing.
Upon ordering, please select the number of the patoo of your choice. This is the number on the right upper corner of the picture.
